Keep birthday parties simple but fun to celebrate on a budget

Consider a green cake with plastic farm animals or a blue cake with gummy fish or toy airplanes. To avoid having to spend a lot on pizza or hot dogs, plan your child’s party for mid-afternoon, that way you won’t be expected to provide a major meal, just cake, snacks and drinks. Cover your cake with a single color and decorate with clean, miniature plastic toys. If you have a long guest list and still want to provide something memorable, consider renting an inflatable bounce house, which is always a hit with kids. Homemade birthday cakes are more memorable and affordable than going to a store bakery. One way to easily save money is to host a party in your backyard, as opposed to renting out a facility.
