Trashion is in fashion
19.05.12
Margaret is the Special Programs Manager for Sonoma Community Center, an artist,
costume designer and the driving force behind the Trashion Show. The event prospectus reads: The Trashion Fashion Show is a showcase for outrageous, extreme, theatrical and humorous fashions created from recycled
materials. The Trashion Show that premiered last spring at Sonoma Community Center is, in my opinion, one of the most creative and exciting local events in years. Last year to the delight of a packed, standing room only house, more than twenty participants brought forth creations made from coffee filters, aluminum cans, plastic bags, stir sticks, live plants and turkey inseminators. The idea has been brewing in the back of Margaret Hatcher’s mind since she attended a similar event in the 1980’s. This is where art, fashion, ecology and activism meet and have a big party.
